Vermont's Climate Economy Business Accelerator

Accel-VT is a business accelerator providing startup support, mentorship, and access to capital for climate economy entrepreneurs.

About Accel-VT

In order to support the climate innovation cluster of entrepreneurs in the Green Mountain state, Accel-VT will build on local assets and industry expertise, create a network of climate economy enterprises, and expand the availability of growth capital for these enterprises.

Entrepreneurs participating in Accel-VT come from Vermont and around the U.S., typically at a startup or seed stage of development. They are guided by seasoned investors, experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts through the world-class VIRAL™ accelerator curriculum, developed by Village Capital. The curriculum has been designed to test assumptions, expose and remediate business vulnerabilities, prepare for significant investment, and provide a platform for rapid scale. Cohort members receive an additional nine months of follow-on learning and support.

Accel-VT cohort members will be selected based on their ability to help solve one of the most pressing renewable energy development issues facing the US – how to integrate distributed renewable energy, efficiency, and storage technologies with the electric grid.

Accel-VT is managed by the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund (VSJF), a nonprofit organization committed to nurturing the sustainable development of Vermont’s economy. VSJF is committed to partnerships and collaborations that position Vermont as a state where social impact entrepreneurs want to start and grow businesses connected to the emerging climate economy. VSJF is a partner in the Vermont Climate Economy Initiative, managed by the Vermont Council on Rural Development, an effort to boost economic development, create jobs, and attract youth and creative entrepreneurs to the state.

In addition to offering Accel-VT as a service to entrepreneurs, VSJF provides business assistance, value chain facilitation, network development, and strategic planning in agriculture and food system, forest product, waste management, renewable energy, and environmental technology sectors. Located in Montpelier, Vermont, VSJF was created by the Vermont Legislature in 1995 to partner with state government, private sector businesses, and nonprofits to build a thriving economic, social, and ecological future for Vermont.
